Korouoma Canyon is a natural wonder formed thousands of years ago. It lies a 90-minute drive away from Rovaniemi. In the bottom of the canyon flows Korojoki River, which is surrounded on both sides by cliffs over 100 meters high. Several streams cascade down these cliffs freezing into magnificent ice falls in the winter time.
Our Korouoma adventure takes you to this outstanding photography location led by a professional photographer. Under his guidance, you will get to the best spots and be able to bring alive the ancient story of the area in your photos.
During the adventure we will hike through glorious Arctic nature and Nordic forests. We pass through three massive frozen waterfalls, which are sure to impress and create extraordinary landscape for photography. Frozen rivers and rugged gorges pierce the snowy scenery as we hike on the trail through wilderness. We rest on top of the canyon where we are afforded a splendid view over the whole canyon looking down on frozen waterfalls standing out from authentic and pure Arctic wilderness.
During the adventure we will stop at a lean-to and build a fire, over which your guide will prepare a light lunch for the group. This adventure is your top choice to experience versatile Arctic nature including forests, ice falls, rivers, cliffs and wilderness. Meeting points
If you are staying in city centre area, the meeting point is at the Beyond Arctic office: Valtakatu 21, 96200 Rovaniemi.
As a part of our sustainability program, we avoid unnecessary driving in the city centre, where everything is within a short walking distance. Please walk from your accommodation in Rovaniemi city centre area to the meeting point at our office. The meeting time is 15 minutes before the tour departure time.
Pick-up service with minivan is included in the tour price from listed locations outside the city centre area. Please arrive to the pickup point on time.
If you are staying in a private accommodation, please wait outside for the pickup.
Pick-ups are done 25-45 minutes before the tour departure time depending on your hotel.
