Learn how to rescue yourself and others after falling in ice.
Are you familiar with moving on ice? What should you do if you fall trough ice?
Are you able to save your friend who’s fallen trough ice?
In ‘Safely on ice’ training you will learn how to stay safe on ice, identify risks and gain understanding of various ice conditions. You will also learn how to react if the ice suddenly breaks and you find yourself in the cold water. We also train various techniques on how to save yourself or help your friend out of the water.
The training starts with a 30-minute theory part after which we dress up in drysuits and head to the frozen lake. Drysuits will keep us dry and warm making the training safe and comfortable. We will spend 1-1,5 hours on ice depending on conditions and size of the group. After the actual drysuit practice there is a chance to really challenge yourself and try saving yourself wearing your own outdoor clothes. If you’re up for this challenge, pack extra clothing for the practice (everything will get wet, including shoes).
We will end the practice for a sauna.
Pick-up from Pyhä area by car, dry suit, professional guiding, sauna and hot drinks are included in this experience.
Bring a positive attitude, some warm and comfortable clothing (2-4 layers) underneath a drysuit and a warm hat that can get wet. If you want to practice without a drysuit, bring clothes and shoes for that. We will enjoy a sauna at the end of the program so remember to bring a towel and a swimming suit.
This program may be physically and mentally demanding but also rewarding. It is a good chance to explore your own comfort and discomfort zones safely.
Please be aware that due to the small group sizes, the sauna will be shared by all participants (bring your swimming suit).
